On our crazy Big Trip we ended up needing to layover in Riga. Having never been there before, we decided it to extend it to a few days and explore a new city. I’m glad we did – it had the best brunches!
Don’t skip brunch
Don’t miss out on the city’s brunch buffets, they are excellent. Mid week tends to be half the price of weekends, making it an even better deal.
We ate at the Rocket Bean Roastery. The food was delicious and highly recommended. It also had good coffee, fast wifi, and a nice atmosphere for working.

Getting around
Getting around Riga is fairly cheap by Taxi – we used Bolt (there’s no Uber). But for an even more enjoyable experience, use the same app to hire electric scooters. They make travelling around town a breeze.

The city is very pretty and you can easily spend hours wandering around. We enjoyed lounging in the Bastejkalna Park with its river and fountains.

Nourishment
There are plenty of great places to eat once you’re brunch has finally settled. I liked looking for recommendations on the @RigaOriginal instagram account for a starting point.
Sleeping
We stayed in this Air BnB which was a newly renovated studio outside of the centre.
Riga was a beautiful and fairly cheap city to visit. I’m sure I’ll be back again soon, for the brunch buffets if nothing else!
